Bicentennial Ball Jars
These jars are replicas of the bicentennial jars put out in 1975-1977, which were then replicas of the original blue Ball jars from the late 1800s and early 1900s. These are replicas of replicas, so not worth a lot at auction, but worth a ton to someone with a love for these historic treasures but not quite the budget for the real thing.
Here are some differences to look out for. True bicentennial jars are lighter blue and more translucent (see photos), and the bail wire was stronger. These are made in Mexico and date around 1989, and an embossing on the heel of the jar reads "NOT FOR HOME CANNING".
All three sizes shown are included: the fourth (second to smallest) was damaged, so this is not a complete set, but lovely all the same.
